HATI BESHA / GAJANAN BESHA / GANAPATI BESHA on SNANA PURNIMA

On Snana Purnima tithi (the full moon day in Jyeshtha), the bathing ceremony of the deities is observed on the Snana Bedi. Thereafter, the deities are dressed like Ganesh who bears the head of an elephant (Hati). Lord Jagannath and Balabhadra appear like Ganesh or black and white elephants.

Banajaga Yatra Started, Daitapatis night halt at Jagannath Ballav Matha

The much awaited Nabakalebar of Lord Jagannath & His Siblings started at Puri with The Gajapati King starting the 1st ritual of Acharya Varana, and in the afternoon the Banayaga Yatra started with the Ajnamala Bije and the Daitapatis would be staying at Jagannath Ballav Matha today. It was a scene of Mini Rath Yatra today.
